Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Horse Guide: which horse to choose, and where to find horse skins for Phobos
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has a large amount of global map to navigate, and although your ship will be handy for long maritime voyages, you’ll need a trusted steed to carry you across the land quickly in order to complete your objectives. In comes Phobos, who serves as your trusty horse, yet, as with other things in Odyssey, there is a large element of choice involved as well.
Here we’ll go through what horse to choose if you’re presented with the option, how to summon your horse, and lastly where to acquire horse skins to customize the appearance of Phobos.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: which horse should you choose?
As soon as you get to the vineyard, your buddy Markos will accompany you to the stables where you will be able to rest and recover from your ordeal. If you haven’t reached this phase yet, don’t be alarmed: it will come eventually as part of the main plot arc. Once you’ve been introduced to the majestic creatures in the stable, you’ll be confronted with another difficult decision, and it will come so quickly after your decision between Kassandra and Alexios: you’ll have to choose which horse you’d want to accompany you on your journey to the city.
Your choice of horse, on the other hand, will be rendered moot a short time later.
Final analysis reveals that all three horses are virtually identical in every significant sense – and this is true despite the descriptions provided by the game.
- This dark grey horse, nicknamed “The Left Horse,” is described as having “mountain pass-clinging abilities like a goat.” The Middle Horse, which is brown and white in color and originated from the Greek island of Skyros, has been “bred for courage.” It’s from Thessalonia, and it’s a beautiful white horse that’s “built for warfare – a warrior’s horse.” It’s also a good-looking horse. It comes from the Makedonian language.
As far as we can discern, Markos’ descriptions are only for the purpose of adding color and flare – the horses are otherwise similar in function. As a result, we propose that you choose the horse whose color you prefer the most. Whatever you decide, your horse will always be known as Phobos, and you’ll be able to quickly alter the color of the horse at any point in the game’s progression. Soon, we’ll get to the point of discussing it in more detail. First and foremost, though. Advertisement. Continue reading for more information.
How to summon your horse in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey to reunite with Phobos
Even while this is more of a suggestion than a guide, it’s important to note that you don’t have to walk up to Phobos directly in order to climb on him. Because he’s a loytal beast, it’s important to know that you have a horse whistle that you may use to call Phobos at any time and from any location (within reason). Just a small tip: keep in mind that pushing down on the D-Pad once activates the whistle, which may be utilized to divert or attract the attention of adversaries when you’re hiding in stealth mode.
You’ll be able to discern the difference not only because Phobos appears, but also because of the amount of time it takes for the whistle to sound.
Horse Skins: where and how to change Phobos’ look in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, including the Unicorn skin
As previously stated, the three alternatives available early on between the horses are almost all aesthetic in nature. If you become dissatisfied with the appearance of your horse, you may alter it with cosmetic horse skins, which include the two skins you rejected before as well as a variety of additional skins, some of which are serious and others of which are a bit more humorous. In Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, horse skins may be purchased from the merchants in the game as well as via the Helix Store (for Legendary skins).
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s horse skins are divided into the same categories as the game’s many types of armor, which range from common to legendary in quality.
Keep checking back because you’ll discover a variety of skins ranging from common to epic rarity at various times. Listed below is a list of the horse skins for Phobos that we’ve come across in the Blacksmiths so far:
- A powerful horse that will not be intimidated by the prospect of a combat
- The price is 2500 Drachmae (2000 Drachmae with Mercenary discount)

The gray horse on the left, which is the one with the white mane and tail, is from Skyros. A goat’s capacity to cling to mountain passes is expected of it, as is its toughness and durability. The one in the middle, which is brown, comes from Thessalonia, and it is famed for its bravery and determination. The mount on the right (the white one) comes from Makedonia, and Markos believes it is a genuine warrior’s horse, bred specifically for use in warfare and combat. All of them sound like solid ideas.
In addition, you’d want a horse that doesn’t flinch when arrows start flying and swords start slicing through armor.
They are, on the other hand, all identical.
There is no functional difference between the two skins, and even that is erased when you equip any skin other than the default.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s Best Horse Skins & How to Get Them
This game brand from Ubisoft is one of those rare video game franchises where players not only get to accomplish awesome things, but they also look and feel awesome while doing them. In this game, players navigate the landscapes and take out their targets, earning a lot of style points in the process. Having said that, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey takes things to a whole new level – especially when it comes to the use of horse skins in the game. The action of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey takes place in ancient Greek history.
Kassandra or Alexios can explore a magnificent open world with the help of animal companions such as the loyal horse Phobos.
The look of the player’s horse may be customized in the same way as armor and weaponry can be customized. Here are some of the greatest horse skins available in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, as well as information on how to obtain them.
Abraxas (Fire Horse with Skull) Skin
Despite the fact that it is not the most comfortable mount to ride, the Abraxas skin is unquestionably one of the coolest. It may be obtained without the use of microtransactions, and it transforms Phobos into Abraxas, a flaming horse with a horse skull for a head, as shown in the video below. Due to the skin burning similar to the sun, his body seems to be either charred flesh or a gaseous mixture of both. Despite the fact that Abraxas’ mane and tail look to be formed of fire, they do not burn brightly.
This is a Legendary skin from the Underworld that has been resurrected.
Mercenary Rank 1 can only be obtained when players have defeated Exekias, who must be defeated after several other mercenaries have been defeated.
It should be noted that it is the same skin from Assassin’s Creed Origins, which was referred to as “Abyssal Steed.”
Unicorn Skin
Despite the fact that it is not the most comfortable mount to ride, the Abraxas skin is unquestionably one of the most attractive. It may be obtained without the use of microtransactions, and it transforms Phobos into Abraxas, a flaming horse with a horse skull for a head, as shown in the image below. Due to the skin burning comparable to the sun, his body looks to be either charred flesh or gas. Despite the fact that Abraxas’ mane and tail look to be formed of fire, they are not. Its ankles and hooves appear to be releasing flames as well.
The Abraxas skin for Phobos can only be obtained by participating in the slaughter of Exekias the Legend; players must be at least level 46 in order to stand a chance against his level 50 opponents.
Players will be awarded with the Abraxas skin if they complete this task in the correct manner.
Pegasus Skin
The Pegasus Skin transforms Phobos into the winged horse of legend and endows Phobos with a unique ability: the ability to glide. For the most part, it lessens Phobos’s fall damage, which makes traveling the hilly terrain of ancient Greece far simpler. Winding roads down a mountain will no longer be an issue, for all Phobos needs to do now is just leap from a precipice to get to his destination. The skin of the Pegasus looks to be snow white, with gorgeous white feathered wings that match the skin, as well as white hair for the mane and tail.
In order to obtain the Pegasus skin, players must either spend real money on Helix Credits at the Helix Store, or they must be fortunate enough to be dealt a favorable hand by Lady Luck.
Although it is possible to obtain the skin for free from the Oikos of the Olympians merchant, which can be found in Phokis, Pilgrim’s Standing, it is not recommended.
The combination of luck, patience, and orichalcum ore, which may be obtained through quests and contracts, will be required to complete this task. At the very least, players may earn the Legendary skin and other cosmetic items simply by participating in the game.
Orphnaeus (Dark Horse of Hades) Skin
This Phobos skin may be used to ride into combat on the horse of Hades, the lord of the underworld, if you have the proper equipment. It is necessary to obtain some downloadable material, such as The Fate of Atlantis. As a result of the Orphnaeus skin, Phobos transforms into Hades’ most beloved horse, with flaming crimson eyes, a bloodstained lips, and all-black hooves. It also appears like the horse’s hair, mane, and hooves contain dark particles, similar to a black mist. It actually is a demonic horse of death, and it is appropriate for gamers to mount and ride into combat.
Completing this task will provide players with the Legendary Phobos Skin, which is a rare and valuable item.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: The Fate Of Atlantis – Dark Horse Quest Walkthrough
The open-world locales and objectives in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey are quite impressive, particularly in theFate Of Atlantis DLC. This expansion pack has a plethora of fascinating experiences, and many of the quests contained inside it provide you with critical decisions to make, such as the ‘Dark Horse’quest. When you complete the ‘Dark Horse’ quest in Fate of Atlantis, you will be able to choose between a few alternative endings depending on your actions throughout the mission. Besides that, there are a few other crucial facts to know about this quest, such as how you are permitted to approach fighting and which option will complete the task in the shortest time.
How To Complete The ‘Dark Horse’ Quest
The first stage is to journey to Persephone’s Akropolis, which is located in Greece. You may teleport to this place in a short amount of time with the Wings of Hermes. In order to proceed, you must first speak with Persephone, who can be located near the end of Akropolis. Because it will help you to go to Persephone more quickly, riding your horse is a wise decision. You may interact with the door whenever you like, but if you haven’t previously, be sure to synchronize your device with the location before doing so.
- You must journey to the Asphodel Arboretum in order to locate the horse, which is sadly guarded by a large number of soldiers.
- If you can defeat the Kolossi Soldiers early, you’ll have less adversaries to contend with when the main combat begins.
- To accomplish the ‘Dark Horse’ task as swiftly as possible, slip past the vast majority of the guards on the way.
- If you want to finish the location, you can do it now, and then go inside the Arboretum to complete the quest.
- Once you enter the Arboretum, you will be able to see the horse, however it is not by itself.
- During your conversation with this individual, you will be presented with an important choice that will have a significant impact on the outcome of the mission.
This choice will have an impact on the dialogue and goals you get for the rest of the quest, so take your time and consider your options carefully before making your final selection. Here are guidelines for making each decision, as well as the outcomes of each option.
Allow Mulios To Keep The Horse
Unless you agree to let Mulios retain possession of the horse during your discussion with him in the Arboretum, you won’t be able to present it to Persephone or Adonis. If you choose to let Mulios have the horse, that is entirely up to you; unfortunately, it is the least fascinating option in terms of dialogue; nevertheless, it is also the simplest because you will not be required to transport it to either of the other characters.
Deliver The Horse To Persephone
As soon as you have made the choice to send the horse to Persephone’s Jockey, you can begin riding it, which will expedite the rest of your journey significantly. The Asphodel Fields is the last destination on this journey, and you must ride it there and bring it to the jockey in order to finish the mission. Choosing this choice means you will not have to battle any more opponents throughout the task, but it will take a little longer than leaving the horse with Mulios because you will have go to the fields to do so.
Deliver The Horse To Adonis
There is a character to whom you can gift the horse in place of Adonis if you like. You will be riding the horse to Minos’s Faith, where you will encounter the figure who will take the animal away from you. Similar to the Persephone path, you will not encounter any more foes; however, journeying to Minos’s Faith will take additional time, which is not necessary if you allow Mulios to retain the horse.
Talk To Persephone
It is necessary for you to return to Persephone’s Akropolis and talk with her after your decision has been reached and the horse has been delivered to the character of your choosing. You have the opportunity to inform Persephone about the events that transpired throughout the quest. Following your conversation with Persephone, the quest will be completed, and you will be awarded your prizes accordingly. All of the benefits you will receive are shown in the table below.
Every Reward You Receive For Completing The “Dark Horse” Quest

Talk to Nikaia
Nikaia is the owner and breeder of horses.
Talk to her in the precise place highlighted by the mission sign on the map below, which is where she may be found. This woman will be riding a horse near a shelter, and you will spot her.
Find the stallion
She will tell you that the fictitious Eagle Bearer seized her horse instead of attempting to assist her. You have to get the stallion back from a bandit camp, which you must do quickly. The precise location of the camp is depicted on the map to the right of this paragraph. As you draw closer, utilize Ikaros to locate the exact location of the target. You will notice a structure that sticks out in this area. There are a number of guards and a captain stationed inside the Salty Bandits’ base of operations.
As soon as the perimeter has been secured, mount the stallion.
Bring the stallion back to Nikaia
Return to Nikaia when you’ve finished riding the horse. This time, though, she has relocated to a different area, as seen on the map below. You’ll be able to spot her near the edge of the cliff. Bring the horse over to her location. During the sequence, she offers the horse an unique treat to eat that he will remember (bought from the fake Eagle Bearer). According to reports, it transforms her horse into a “pegasus.” She falls off the cliff while riding her horse. She dies. This is the point at which the mission is completed.
