Recap of the 2021 Belmont Stakes In what was a foregone conclusion, it was the favorite Essential Quality who went on to excel in the Belmont, defeating another Derby finisher in Hot Rod Charlie. Rombauer, who had won the Preakness, finished in third place. The following were the payouts for the 2021 Belmont Stakes: Win, place, or show for $3.60; essential quality for $2.90; essential quality for $1.00. Hot Rod Charlie costs $5.80 to place and $4.20 to show. Rombauer-$5.20 to Attend the Show In most cases, bettors can determine who will win the Belmont Stakes by looking at the winners and contenders in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness races.
- The winner of the Preakness Stakes Rombauer was in the starting lineup, along with third-place Derby finisherHot Rod Charlie and fourth-place Derby finisherEssential Quality, who was the 2-1 favorite at the time of the race.
- Bourbonic, Overtook, Known Agenda, and Rock Your World, as well as France, who finished ninth in the Preakness and is a longshot for the Belmont, are among the runners.
- After everything was said and done, Rombauer’s dramatic upset at the Preakness meant that there would be no Triple Crown winner and no obvious forecast of a winner at the Belmont.

- Nonetheless,
The 153rd Belmont Stakes takes place in the midst of a highly charged and interesting Triple Crown season. The winner of the Preakness, Rombauer, will attempt to win his second consecutive Triple Crown race on Saturday, but the winner of the Kentucky Derby, Medina Spirit, and his trainer, Bob Baffert, will not compete. Preakness Stakes winner Rombauer cruised past favorites Medina Spirit and Midnight Bourbon at Pimlico Race Course on May 15 to claim the 146th Preakness Stakes. Medina Spirit failed a drug test immediately following the Derby, and a second test on Wednesday revealed that the horse had been exposed to betamethasone, a corticosteroid, during the race.
The New York Racing Association, which oversees the Belmont Stakes, has barred Baffert from participating in the race indefinitely and has barred him from entering any horses in the race.
This year’s Belmont field includes five horses who raced in the Derby and are returning for the race.
With Overtook, trained by Todd Pletcher, being the only horse in the Belmont field that has not before raced in a Triple Crown event, it is a good bet that he will win the race.

What time does the 2021 Belmont Stakes start? What TV channel is it on?
ELMONT, New York — Do the times of important horse races matter when they are conducted in a city that never sleeps? Does it really matter what time the race is scheduled? Without a doubt, it does. And that brings us to the topic of the day: what time is the Belmont Stakes? As is always the case, it is dependent on where you reside. It is 6:47 p.m. EDT if you are in this location on the border of Queens and Nassau counties, which is in the shadow of New York City. When traveling westward, subtracting an hour at each stop, you arrive at 5:47 p.m.

- After all was said and done, it turned out that she is Pete Best, the Beatles’ drummer prior to Ringo Starr, as far as the song is concerned.
- It was Liza Minelli, who recorded “New York, New York” before Frank Sinatra.
This year, the attendance at Belmont Park is expected to be capped at 10,000 people, which does not include owners, officials, and, of course, the media, who are expected to be present.
What day and time is the 2021 Belmont Stakes?
In the year 2021, horse racing has obviously been a touch out of control. After being postponed due to COVID-19 last year, the Triple Crown races were rescheduled to their customary dates this year. Medina Spirit won the Kentucky Derby, but he is likely to be deprived of the victory owing to a second drug test violation, and Mandaloun will be crowned the winner in its place. Since then, trainer Bob Baffert has been barred from entering any horses in the Belmont Stakes, which takes place this Saturday at Belmont Park.
- Rombauer won the Preakness Stakes two weeks after winning the Kentucky Derby, ensuring that even if Medina Spirit had not been deprived of the Derby victory, we would not have had a Triple Crown decision at the Belmont Stakes.
- NBCSN will broadcast the races from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.

The Belmont Stakes will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2021. This segment first aired on NBC Sports Chicago. The 153rd Belmont Stakes, which will be held in Nassau County, New York, will include a large number of Kentucky Derby contenders. In the wake of his third-place performance in the Derby, Hot Rod Charlie returns to the Triple Crown path for the first time since skipping the Preakness Stakes. Essential Quality makes an appearance as well, following his fourth-place result at Churchill Downs.
After Medina Spirit failed a drug test, the New York Racing Association barred Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert from entering horses at state racetracks on May 17 awaiting the outcome of an inquiry into the failed drug test.
On Saturday, trainer Bob Baffert will not be permitted to keep any horses at Belmont Park. Here’s all you need to know about the Belmont Stakes in 2021.

Who has the best odds to win the 2021 Belmont Stakes?
Brad Cox’s Essential Quality enters Saturday’s battle as the 2-1 favorite, ahead of Preakness champion Rombauer, according to the morning line odds for the 2021 Belmont Stakes released on Wednesday. The two will line up beside each other at the start of the race in the No. 2 and No. 3 positions, respectively. Before Saturday’s race, Hot Rod Charlie is second in the betting at 7-2, while Todd Pletcher’s Known Agenda (6-1) and John Sadler’s Rock Your World (9-2) are also in the running. The following are the complete odds and post positions: 1.
Unavoidable Characteristic (2-1) – A favorite of the morning newscasts Rombauer is number three on the list (3-1) Hot Rod Charlie is number four on the list (7-2) 5.
Agenda that is well-known (6-1) 7.

Who won the 2020 Belmont Stakes?
With his victory in the Belmont Stakes in 2020, Tiz the Law became the first New York-bred horse to win the race in more than 138 years. Tis the Law also won the Travers Stakes at Saratoga and was the pre-race favorite for the 146th Kentucky Derby, which he won on Saturday. Before being retired, the horse finished second to Authentic at Churchill Downs and sixth in the Breeders Cup before finishing third to Authentic.
Belmont Stakes 2021: Start time, odds, how to watch and stream
The 153rd running of the Belmont Stakes will take place on Long Island on Saturday — and with no hope of a Triple Crown winner, it’s unclear how many fans will really tune in to watch. When Justify won the Triple Crown, 12.7 million people tuned in to watch him do it. According to Sports Media Watch, the race received just 4.9 million views in 2019, when no Triple Crown was on the line, making it the least-watched Belmont Stakes since 2010. (Last year’s pandemic-delayed event got only 3.3 million people.) The race was the least-watched Belmont Stakes since 2010.
With him will be jockey John Velazquez, who won the Kentucky Derby on Medina Spirit earlier this year and has won the Belmont Stakes twice before — in 2007 with Rags to Riches and again in 2012 on Union Rags.
It is essential quality who is the morning line favorite, and he is one of five horses racing today that participated in the Kentucky Derby earlier this year (the other four are Hot Rod Charlie, Known Agenda, Bourbonic, and Rock Your World).
Medina Spirit would become only the second horse to be disqualified in the Derby’s 147-year history, and owner Amr Zedan would be forced to relinquish his $1.8 million first-place prize money.
Due to the failing drug test, Medina Spirit’s Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert has been suspended for two years, and as a result, none of his horses will be permitted to run on Saturday. Everything you need to know about watching or streaming the Belmont Stakes is included below:
What time does the Belmont Stakes start?
The live broadcast on NBC will begin at 5 p.m. Eastern and will be anchored by Mike Tirico. In addition to broadcasting on NBC Sports App and NBCSports.com, the race will be broadcast live on NBC Sports App and on the NBC Sports website. Early coverage will begin at 3 p.m. on NBC Sports Network and will continue throughout the day.
- On Saturday, June 5, the event will take place at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. Mike Tirico hosts the race, with Larry Collmus calling it from the booth. The race airs on NBC and can be streamed on the NBC Sports app.
The team will also include commentators Randy Moss and Jerry Bailey, long-time handicapper Eddie Olczyk, and a number of reporters, in addition to Tirico. Steve Kornacki of MSNBC is also returning to NBC’s horse racing coverage, having just returned from covering a special congressional election in New Mexico and is looking forward to predicting winners at Belmont Park.
How much will the Belmont Stakes winner take home?
From a total prize pool of $1.5 million, the winner will get $800,000 in cash. This is divided among the three parties: the owner, the trainer, and the rider. In addition, the jockey’s agent and the valet receive a commission. Despite the epidemic, last year’s Belmont Stakes winner Tiz the Law only received $550,000 in prize money as a result of the $800,000 payout, which has been unchanged since 2014. The second-place team will earn $280,000 in prize money, while the third-place squad will receive $150,000.
Belmont returns to ‘test of the champion’ distance
With the exception of a pandemic-shortened run in 2020, the Belmont Stakes will resume its historic “test of the champion” distance on the park’s massive oval, nicknamed as “Big Sandy.” The Belmont Stakes is 112 miles long, making it the longest of the three Triple Crown races and, for many three-year-old thoroughbreds, the first time they have ran such a long distance on dirt. “We’re essentially of in the same boat as everyone else here,” Masaki Tanako, a France Go de Ina workout rider, told reporters via an interpreter after the race.
The 8 horses and their odds of winning
- Bourbonic (15-1), Essential Quality (2-1), Rombauer (3-1), Hot Rod Charlie (7-2), France Go De Ina (30-1), Known Agenda (6-1), Rock Your World (9-2), Overtook (20-1), and a slew of others are in the running.

Belmont Stakes 2021: Post time, TV schedule, how to watch without cable

There is one notable absence from the field: Medina Spirit, who was disqualified from the Kentucky Derby after failing a drug test, and whose trainer, Bob Baffert, is prohibited from entering horses at both Belmont Park and Churchill Downs. Rombauer, the winner of the Preakness Stakes, is competing in the 1.5-mile Belmont Stakes and is the second-best bet at 3-1, trailing only 2-1 favorite Essential Quality.

The Fastest Belmont Stakes Winners
Even if a horse wins the Belmont Stakes, completing the “Test of Champions” in less time than the other contenders elevates them to a different level of distinction. As I’ve stated previously when looking at the topBelmont Stakes winners of all time, this event is more than simply a 1 1/2-mile sprint, as we saw when looking at the topBelmont Stakes winners of all time. Even in years when there is no Triple CrownTM, the Belmont Stakes carries the weight of the whole Triple CrownTM on its shoulders.
Speed is still a critical factor in the Belmont Stakes, which is known for being a race determined by stamina.
Not usually are the ones that charge out of the gate the first to cross the finish line that are the most successful.
Here are the 5 fastest Belmont Stakes winners of all time:
Time:2:26.56 As previously noted, the Belmont Stakes bears more than simply the weight of a single event when it comes to its significance. It was for this reason that jockey Gary Stevens was not totally happy after riding Point Given to victory in the Belmont Stakes in 2001. Point Given had finished sixth in the Kentucky Derby®, perhaps owing to a foot illness, and had won the Preakness Stakes prior to the event. Consequently, even if the triple was out of the question, Point Given still had a chance to win his second gem.
However, even as the tempo slowed, Point Given remained on the offensive, surging ahead of the rivals.
Stevens was left wondering what might have happened if Point Given had been at full strength in the Derby after such a convincing victory.
4. Risen Star, 1988
Time:2:26.50 Point Given wasn’t the only horse who wished for a second chance in the Kentucky Derby. A winner of the 1988 Kentucky Derby®, Risen Star also won the Preakness Stakes and posted the fourth fastest time ever at the Belmont Stakes, which was his first major victory in the United States.
Risen Star, in a similar vein to Point Given, put forth his greatest performance at Belmont Park, defeating the rest of the field by 14 3/4 lengths in the process.
3. A.P. Indy, 1992
Time:2:26.13 A.P. Indy’s blood runs red when it comes to winning the Belmont Stakes. This horse was sired by 1977 Belmont winner Seattle Slew and went on to sire 2007 Belmont winner Rags to Riches, making him a member of the only three-generation family of Belmont winners in the history of the race. In 1992, A.P. Indy followed up his victory in the Belmont Stakes with a victory in the Breeders’ Cup, which helped him claim the title of American Horse of the Year for the second time in his career.
Indy is frequently cited as having matched for the second-fastest finish at Belmont, his official recorded time places him just behind the leader in the third position on the list.
2. Easy Goer, 1989
Time:2:26.00 Belmont Park was meant to be the location of Sunday Silence’s crowning achievement, but it ended up being the scene of his most humiliating defeat. Even though Sunday Silence arrived in New York with victories in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes already under his belt, fate had other plans for him. Easy Goer made his way onto the scene. This horse entered the Belmont Stakes with the knowledge that he has the ability to cause an upset; all he had to do was go out and do it.
1.Secretariat, 1973
Time:2:24.00 There are no indications that this record will be broken any time in the near future. Despite the fact that it had been 25 years since the previous horse to win the Triple Crown TM, Secretariat, who had already won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, arrived at Belmont Park on the verge of becoming a legend. However, what unfolded during the 1 1/2-mile race propelled him into the realm of immortality. While the first half of the race was conducted at a leisurely pace, Secretariat demonstrated the real character of a champion by extending their advantage to a vast margin as they reached the second half of the race.
The horse Secretariat not only established the record for the quickest time at Belmont Park, but he also set the American record for any mile-and-a-half length on dirt at any stage in his career.

Belmont Stakes 2022
As the oldest of the three American classic races, called as the “Test of the Champion,” the Belmont Stakes is generally the last and longest leg of the Triple Crown. It is also the most prestigious. The event is generally held in early June, five weeks after the Kentucky Derby and three weeks after the Preakness Stakes in Maryland, and it serves to finish off the long and arduous classics season in the United States. The fact that it is the last leg of the Triple Crown has left vivid memories, such as Secretariat’s spectacular performance in 1973, when he became the first horse in a quarter-century to sweep the series.
- After ending an even longer Triple Crown drought in 2015, American Pharoah stunned the crowds at Belmont Park by becoming the first horse to win the series in 37 years, he wowed the crowds once more in 2016.
- Founded in 1867, the Belmont Stakes was held for the first time in Jerome Park in the Bronx, which was constructed by stock market gambler Leonard Jerome and sponsored by August Belmont Sr., after whom the event was called.
- and William Collins Whitney, among other investors, to house the race.
- Since 1926, the Belmont has been raced at 1 1/2 miles, or one complete lap on the large oval known as “Big Sandy,” with the distance varying slightly.
Prior to 1926, the race had been held at four different distances, the longest of which was 1 1/8 miles in 1893 and 1894 in Morris Park in New York City. It was also run at several distances throughout its early existence, including 1 3/8 mile, 1 1/4 mile, and 1 5/8 mile.

Associated Press photographer Jeff Roberson The 2021Belmont Stakes is expected to take place on Saturday, marking the conclusion of another Triple Crown season. This year’s Triple Crown champion will not be a repeat winner. Medina Spirit’s bid to win all three races came to an end with Rombauer’s victory in the Preakness Stakes. While it put a damper on this year’s attempt to make history, it also took Bob Baffert’s horse out of the spotlight after failing a drug test following the Kentucky Derby last month.

The horse, who was trained by Brad Cox, was one of the favorites in the Kentucky Derby, but he ended in fourth place.
From the work his horse has done since coming in Belmont, Cox has been pleased with the results.
“He’s still a very inexperienced horse, but he’s had to overcome adversity in his past races, which is advantageous coming into a Triple Crown contest.
(2017).
Rombauer and Hot Rod Charlie are two of the other popular characters.
The 28-year-old was on Rombauer when he won the Preakness, but he rode Hot Rod Charlie in the Kentucky Derby, which he won.
The winner of the Preakness Stakes Rombauer completed a half-mile in 50.08 seconds in his last preparation for the Belmont Stakes with THAT QUALITY.
John Velazquez, through his contacts, was introduced to him as a viable option.
Trainer Michael McCarthy is thrilled that Velazquez, who rode Medina Spirit to victory in the Kentucky Derby, was able to ride.
I hope everyone else is satisfied with their selection as well.” Rock Your World and Known Agenda round out the list of the best-selling albums of all time.

Your World finished 17th in the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs.
His chances of winning are improved by the fact that the field is smaller and the race is longer to make up for any potential unfortunate breaks.
He battled with the large field in Louisville as well, but he does have a Grade I stakes win on his credit from March, when he was the winner of the Florida Derby.
When it comes to the odds, the fact that those two are tied for fourth is symptomatic of just how close and unpredictable this race is turning out to be.

Belmont Stakes
The Belmont Stakes, named after the 19th century banker and horse aficionado August Belmont, was originally held in 1867 and has been running ever since. The Belmont Stakes is the third jewel in the Triple Crown series, and it is the most prestigious race in the world. Additionally, the August Belmont Memorial Cup is presented to the winning horse in the winner’s circle, which includes a blanket of around 700 white carnation flowers being draped over the victorious horse. Tiffany & Co. created the race trophy, which was initially shown at the event.

*Winner of the Triple Crown As may be expected, the slowest periods in the history of the Belmont Stakes all occurred in the late 1800s. Eric (1889) won the Belmont in 2:47.25 minutes and 25 seconds. A pair of sprinters, Grenada (1880) and Saunterer (1881), completed the distance in 2:47.00 flat. Cloverbrook (1877) set a new time of 2:46.00, while Duke of Magenta (1878) set a new time of 2:43.50, one year after Cloverbrook. High Echelon (1970), who finished the Belmont Stakes in 2:34.00, was the horse with the slowest time in the twentieth century.
For one and a half miles, Delhi (1904) retains the speed record with a time of 2:07.75, while M an o’ War (1920), probably the greatest racehorse of all time, owns the record for one and three-eighth miles with a time of 2:14.20.
When Rags to Riches finished the 2007 Belmont in 2:28.74 seconds, she was the quickest filly to win the race in the twentieth century, according to Timeform.
At the current distance of 1 12 miles, Gallant Fox (1930), who won the Triple Crown in a time of 2:31.60 seconds, holds the record for the slowest time by a Triple Crown winner.
