When it comes to the Australian Football League, I am often astounded at the variety of topics that individuals choose to research. I have all kinds of intriguing questions thrown my way, some of which I can answer and others which I am unable to answer. Just yesterday, I received an email from a long-time reader in Italy who wanted to know more. Because I am unfamiliar with the fine intricacies of the majority of AFL outfits, I volunteered to put his query to the board for consideration. A number of educated Denver Broncos collectors, as well as some former AFL players, subscribe to Tales of the NFL.

Trying To Get Back On To The Horse

Hello there, devoted reader, and welcome. I’ve been away for a couple of weeks now. This was not a deliberate layoff, but rather one that was necessitated by circumstances. In the spirit of complete openness, I’ve been admitted to a hospital for observation. I just underwent open heart surgery – a triple bypass, to be precise. If you follow me on Twitter, you will already be aware of this, since I have been writing about the entire process on a very frequent basis. If you don’t, please take the time to do so.

In terms of the ordeal itself, the operation was a success.

However, everything went as smoothly as could be expected, and I consider myself fortunate to be able to type that statement.

Without becoming too emotional or sentimental about it all, remember to love those you care about. Every single day. There are no do-overs in this world. You only have one life, so get the most out of it because it might be taken away at any time.

Name Change

I apologize for not posting on the name change and a handful of other details, but as I approach the start of my twentieth season as the webmaster of this website, I have realized that stuff does happen. And that’s just OK with me. For the record, I despise the team’s moniker, but I will always support the organization. When the competitors are up on stage and under the spotlights, it is easy to discern who is a member of Team Liquid. Not only because they’re usually the ones who come out on top, raising the trophy high above their heads in celebration. No, it’s the one with the white and blue stripes. It accomplishes more than simply “sound cool.” It is now seen as the epitome of belonging and honesty.

And we’ve had the horses with us throughout it all.

Over the years, people have submitted their own horse logo ideas, which have been inspired by our banner.

We asked our fans to design the first official Team Liquid t-shirt, and they came up with something amazing.

This design was available for purchase for over ten years before it was discontinued in 2016.

But we all know how those kinds of situations turn out in the end.

We were too preoccupied with winning things, and the horse banner was already pretty cool, right?

This would include a new banner and logo, among other things.

Since then, we haven’t done much to alter the logo’s appearance.

In 2016, we changed our logo from having seven manes to having six manes.

It brought the curvature of the shield around the horse head into balance, making the entire logo a little more symmetrical and visually appealing.

Through it all, from the horse in the snow banner to the intense geometric horse on our jerseys, our fans have maintained a strong association with the horse and our team.

Stoic.

Hay is being consumed.

And we’ve grown as a result of it all. We’ve amassed a slew of victories. There are more titles. And while we may have lost a mane, we have gained an increasing number of followers. Our community has continued to grow in recent years. And that is exactly what Team Liquid is all about as well.

The Daily Helmet: A Horse Is A Horse, Of Course?

When I received my Calgary Stampeders decals in the mail, I was certain that I had received the incorrect decals, and I was filled with bewilderment and rage. Certainly, the colors were correct, but it is not the proper tail! I was under the impression that the gentleman had given me SMU decals in Stampeders colors. I was completely mistaken. In spite of the fact that I believe I had previously mentioned it, I had forgotten that for quite some time now the Stamps had been wearing the SMU type horse on their uniforms and a somewhat different horse (the tail) on their products.
