Before using, combine the ingredients and let aside to cool (if heated). Always make sure that the drinking water is fresh. Do not alter the diet of your companion animal all at once; instead, gradually increase the amount of the new food being fed to them.

I’m not claiming that any specific brands include horse flesh, but how can we know for certain?
And, under our present “anything goes” pet food system, no one knows where the food is coming from.
Pet Meats Today
The current finding has gone a long way towards explaining why pet-grade meat is so much less expensive than human-grade meat. Despite the price disparity, I’ve always maintained that we should purchase meat suited for human consumption since it is more sanitary. We now have a fresh cause to celebrate. “At the very least, it’s not going to waste,” you could argue, and I’d agree with you up to a degree. However, I’m willing to guess that if you asked a huge number of pet owners if they felt comfortable purchasing horse meat, the vast majority would answer no.
Even worse, at least some of these pet food abattoirs have shown themselves to be the most heinous of establishments.
The following are some of the items that the RSPCA discovered:
- Cattle that are malnourished and plagued with lice Animals that have been unable to stand for a period of time
- Wounds and illnesses that have gone untreated
Many of these creatures were in desperate need of euthanasia right away. And yet, there they were, ready to be turned into pet food, with all of the illnesses that came with it.
Pet Food Rules Today
It continues to astound pet lovers that the regulations governing pet food in Australia are radically different for animals and people. These are precisely the types of issues that prompted me to testify before the Senate Pet Food Safety Inquiry last year. I walked into the meeting with a clear message, asking for six things:
